This morning the White House announced the appointment of my close friend and business partner, Kristina Schake, as Special Assistant to the President and Communications Director to First Lady Michelle Obama.  In our decade working together on campaigns from early childhood education to renewable energy and anti-tobacco to equal rights, Kristina has brought her sharp, strategic thinking, formidable skills and steadfast passion to our clients and causes.  The entire G|S family is so proud of our friend and colleague.

Meanwhile, G|S continues to expand its strategic communications, social marketing and political consulting services in Los Angeles, New York and  Washington, DC.  In this past month we have added two new senior team members:  Felix Schein and Brandon Hersh.  Felix, Senior Media Strategist, was formerly a producer and reporter for NBC News where he did extensive political reporting, including being embedded in the 2004 presidential campaigns.  He then transitioned to political consulting work, managing statewide political campaigns and crisis communications projects.  Brandon Hersh, Media Relations Manager, is a political communications and media strategy professional who joins us from Media Matters for America in Washington, DC where he was most recently Executive Outreach Director for Communications and Booking.  

Kristina begins her new position on December 6th.  We wish her the best in her new capacity at the White House as she helps lead some of the most significant national efforts on community health, childhood obesity, military families and much more.
